He has been writing about Asia for 30 years and spent 18 years reporting from Beijing and has also reported from Brussels, Geneva, Frankfurt and is the author of nine books on Asia. He recently completed a book provisionally titled 'Why we won the Cold War - and why so many western intellectuals are still disappointed.'
